Catonsville

Catonsville is a census-designated place in Baltimore County with a population of 39,820 on the 2000 census. Catonsville is bordered by Woodlawn to the north, Baltimore to the east, Elkridge to the south, and Ellicott City to the west.It is the home of University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a public research university with over 12,000 students.

Catonsville Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places in Baltimore County. It’s mostly residential and was laid out with the construction of the electric railway. It has three churches (one with a school), a modern public library, and an art deco water tower. Old Historic Catonsville have pretty cool architectural styles ranging from late-19th century vernacular “I-houses” to late-19th and early-20th century styles such as Queen Anne, Bungalow, Colonial Revival, Dutch Colonial, Tudor Revival, and Craftsman. It’s on the same road and only a few miles away from Historic Ellicott City. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
