Lake Artemesia

32 sec read

Lake Artemesia is a man-made, 38-acre lake located in Berwyn Heights, MD, very close to Greenbelt Park and the Greenbelt Metro station. It is accessible from Greenbelt Road and can be seen from the Greenbelt metro trains. Originally the lake was much smaller, but the area was excavated to provide material for both Greenbelt and College Park metro stations. After construction, the area was rehabilitated and turned into a park.

Lake Artemesia is a good spot for fishing, walking, and bird watching. The trails around the lake connect to Antacostia Tributary Trail System going both north and south along the Anacostia branches, Indian Creek, and Paint Branch. There are many signs that provide a history of the lake and describe the birds that inhabit the area.
